Q. What is the process of ordering a custom garment?
A. Everything starts with us meeting and discussing your needs, wants and must-haves. You are more that welcome to shoot us an email with your questions or come in for consultation, without any obligation. You can bring photos or ideas to show what you have in mind. Although we will be happy to guide you in the right direction as far as your choices are concerned, and help you to pick the right cloth and look for your new outfit. After the decision is made on the fabric, you will be measured by Konstantine or Graham, who will be personally managing the make of your suit form the beginning to the end. Upon a completion, you will be contacted by us for final fittings and after that, the suit or other garment is ready to go home with you!
Q. What expertise do you tailors have and what assurances I have?
A. Tailoring, fashion and textiles have been a large part of Konstantine's life since his early teens. A fourth generation men's tailor, born in Odessa, Ukraine, he credits his artisan grandmother as his first mentor. Konstantine spent years learning his craft in the country's premier, ultra old-school institution- eight month of which were devoted to learning to sew by hand. Having a subsequent broad hands-on experience, working in the production and sourcing with some of the well known international brands, made Konstantine a true expert in his field. Under his command, Made-to-Measure at Gotstyle has reached towering heights.
Q. Where are my suits and other custom garments are made?
A. All our Premium level of suits is made locally, right here in Toronto, while our Bronze suits are made in Western Europe. Most of our custom shirts are made in Toronto, with exception of the hand-made shirts which are skillfully crafted in Italy.
Q. Where is the fabric and components are coming from?
A. We are official authorized resellers of some of the Word's leading textile mills from Italy and England. Our portfolio of cloths include but not limited to Vitale Barberis Canonico, Loro Piana, Scabal, Dormeuil, Cerrutti, Emanuel Ungaro, Ermenegildo Zegna, Piacenza, Thomas Mason, Canclini, Albini, and many others. We use only German and Italian made canvases (another important component inside of suits).
Q. How long does it take to make a suit?
A. Our usual turnaround time is between 4 to 5 weeks. The expedited service of 3 weeks is available at no extra change (some conditions apply). Depending on the circumstances, we may be able to help you with the faster delivery. Please contact Konstantine directly if you have a rush situation.
Q. How are you suits constructed?
A. All our suits are either half-canvased or fully canvassed. We do not make fused suits or suits with the floating chest piece. All our suits have a number of hand-made operations and finishes.
Q. What is the difference between fused, half-canvased, full-canvased and floating chest piece?
A. Please read our blog post about differences between various suit constructions. Note that the floating chest piece is a hybrid construction of fused and half-canvased suit, where the canvas doesn't extend into the lapel - a crucial step in making sure the proper "roll" of lapels.
Q. Are you suits "bespoke"?
A. The short answer is No. Our suits are based on a very flexible and comprehensive Made to Measure system. The word "bespoke" has been taken out of its original context by an army of "get rich fast" direct dealers who sell a Made to Measure garment as "bespoke". There are a lot of blogs and articles dedicated to this issue. Generally, if you walked in the shop and don't see a workshop and any suits being made, this is NOT an authentic bespoke house.
Q. What can be changed / modified on the suit?
A. Practically everything is made to our client's specifications. We don't have any preset models which could not be modified to fit your needs. Therefore, lapels, pockets, fit and many-many other critical styling and fit applications are fully possible.
